Who I am...
Hi! My name is Federico Divino, and I am a linguist and anthropologist. My main focus is meditation, especially from the perspective of cognitive sciences. I study the relationship between language and cognition, how meditation shapes a system for overcoming processes of semiosis and the action of signs in human perceptual and cognitive experience, and how contemplative practice is also used for therapeutic purposes and in clinical contexts. I analyze the benefits of meditation as well as its transformations throughout history and in contemporary settings, placing it within a critical framework grounded in anthropological research and ethnographic data.
Some of my main interests are: Anthropology of Consciousness, Medical Anthropology, Linguistics, Cognitive Linguistics, Semiotics, Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Cognition, Meditation, Contemplative Studies.
